Rotating Object Saver

Introduction

This screensaver was programmed in VB.NET.

The Rotating Object Saver screensaver has about 40 different built-in screensavers (including many rotating objects). It can also display most .obj model files and play background music (.mid or .mp3) files. If you're interested, you can download this screensaver below, but please ensure you're happy with the disclaimer first.

This disclaimer applies to each and every part of the software and its documentation. Henry Gray (email: [email protected]) retains the copyright for his work. This software and its documentation are provided AS IS without any warranty, express or implied, including but not limited to, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, or of accuracy or reliability. Before installing the software, the user should backup their machine, so that they can reverse the process if necessary. The software may not work (including but not limited to, on machines that meet its suggested minimum requirements) and the documentation may be wrong. If the user is in any doubt at all about the software's suitability for their machine, they should not install it.

Although the screensaver can be installed in several ways, perhaps the best way is to use RotatingObjectSaverInstaller.exe (as this also installs the uninstaller).

If any of the import and/or search options are selected (for example during installation) then these may run (and search the computer) whilst the screensavers are being displayed. Although the software stores data relating to the music files and .OBJ model files added to it, including but not limited to, their location (file path), it doesn't store the contents of music or .OBJ model files, so can't be used as backup storage. The software may not be able to read all files correctly. The software only reads parts of .OBJ model files. No music files or .OBJ model files are included with the software. The software does not support viewing using 3D glasses.

If the 'Combine All Themes' facility is used, the software will copy images from folders where Windows® themes are commonly installed (whether or not they are actually part of any installed themes) into another folder (the contents of which can then be displayed). It may miss some images or it may copy images that aren't part of any installed themes. It is the responsibility of the user to check which images or files have been copied.

Screensaver files (RotatingObjectSaverFiles.zip)

RotatingObjectSaverFiles.zip is 1.3 MB and is 2.1 MB when decompressed. This includes the 4 files RotatingObjectSaverInstaller.exe, RotatingObjectSaver.scr, RotatingObjectSaverLibrary.dll and RotatingObjectSaverUserGuide.pdf. As the user guide is included in the download, you don't need to download that separately. Read the user guide for installation instructions.

The phrases are specified by the user. Optional built-in Bible verses can be loaded if wanted.

Other (built-in) Rotating Screensavers

To minimise gif file size, most of these images show the shading being changed each frame whereas in reality the screensaver stays on each shading style for a while before changing to the next (configured) shading style. The gif files are only used (for illustration) on this web page (the screensaver itself doesn't use gif files).

(Optionally) Add other 3D screensavers

Various .OBJ model files can be downloaded from 3rd party web sites and included.
